Brown spots in my cat's eye

Hi everyone,

I've noticed that my cat now has some brown spots in her eye that weren't there before. I've been searching online and on this forum, but I can't tell if it looks serious or not. Given the current lockdown, I'm a bit wary of heading to the vet without getting some advice first – what do you think? I've included a photo below.

Thanks to anyone who replies, and all the best to everyone!

Evening! https://ophtalmoveterinaire.com/2016/07/01/melanose-melanome-de-liris-chez-chat/ This could either be benign or something more concerning. Until you can get Lilo to a vet, preferably a specialist eye vet, I’d recommend taking regular photos of both her eyes and noting the dates so you can track any changes. Is she vaccinated against FeLV and other things? Hi! Thanks for your reply. She isn’t vaccinated because she’s an indoor cat. The vet told me it wasn't necessary in her case... I’m going to take photos of her eyes regularly. I think I’ll give the specialist eye vet a call and send over some photos to see what they think.

Hi there, How old is he? Some cats develop patches of different colours in their iris as they get older; it’s just genetics. However, because of the brown colour, I’m wondering if it might be blood. You'll need to have a vet take a look at him, but it doesn't strike me as an emergency since both eyes look perfectly clear.

    Good evening

This could be either benign or something more worrying. Until you can get Lilo to a vet, and preferably one who specialises in ophthalmology, I’d recommend taking regular photos of both of your cat’s eyes and noting the date so you can track any changes.

Is she up to date with her FeLV and other vaccinations?

If I were you, I’d get in touch with my vet. You could even send them the photo to see what they think; they're really the only ones who can tell you if it’s anything to worry about. Lockdown or not, they still deal with emergencies if needed and can give you some advice over the phone. What a funny little face in that close-up, he’s absolutely adorable!
