Hello,
Last Wednesday evening (29th September), Avoine ate the string from a tournedos steak. I saw her do it, but by the time I tried to take it away, she'd already swallowed it. I'm panicking because I know how dangerous it is. In the meantime, she's playing, drinking, eating, and chasing her sister around. The next morning, I called the vet to book an appointment... they told me it was very serious and that I needed to go to the emergency vet. Even though she seemed perfectly fine, I went down there.
The X-ray showed no signs of a bowel obstruction. They prescribed some pet laxatives to help her pass the string naturally.
It's now the 3rd of October, and there's still no sign of the string in her litter tray. Her general health is the same as usual: she's playing, eating, lounging by the window, drinking, and zooming around.
I don't know what to do anymore... I'm so worried because I've been reading up online about the dangers of string and twine.
Has anyone else been through this with a cat swallowing string? Is it possible for her to just live with the string in her gut until she eventually passes it? Will the string just fray and break down on its own?
