Family promise to collect dog from pound: two months on, rescuers make a major decision

By Ludivine Mazzotti•

In Béziers, in the south of France, a little dog named Paco has been abandoned in the most heartbreaking way.

This little dog is only four years old and weighs just nine pounds.

His story was shared by rescuers from Le Transit, an animal rescue charity.

Left behind on holiday

Paco's owners had taken him with them on holiday to the south of France. But when it was time to head home, he was allegedly left behind on purpose at their campsite. The little dog was eventually picked up by the local pound. Thankfully, he was microchipped, which meant staff were able to contact his owners. They assured the team they were on their way to collect him. However, since 15th August, no one has ever shown up.

It is the ultimate betrayal for poor Paco. His family drove away without him, promised to come back, but never kept their word. We can only imagine how confused and bewildered the poor little thing must have been.

A fresh start?

Fortunately, the future is looking much brighter for Paco. He is now up for adoption through the Le Transit charity. His foster family have noticed that the clever pup is full of energy, loves to play, and enjoys cuddles with his humans just as much as going for walks.

He is currently living with three other dogs and has proudly appointed himself the leader of the pack! Paco is also fully house-trained and gets on well with cats. We really hope he finds a loving new home very soon with owners who will cherish him for the rest of his days.
