The brother and sister had been adopted together at the end of June.
But just a few months later, on 6 September, their owners contacted the charity to ask them to take the kittens back.
A lack of sleep
The reasons given to the rescuers were rather unusual. The owners claimed they had been unable to sleep since Cody and Alannah had moved in. Granted, two kittens from the same litter can be very playful and active around the house. However, this behaviour is completely normal; they have bags of energy at that age!
Before agreeing to take them back, the shelter team advised them to consult a feline behaviourist. According to the rescuers' social media post, an initial appointment did take place, but unfortunately, the recommendations were not put into practice.
A bizarre excuse
A few days later, the owners got in touch again. This time, their reasons left the rescuers completely baffled. They claimed that "Alannah is evil" and that the kittens would bang their heads against the walls if they did not get enough biscuits. They even claimed the kittens would attack them as soon as their owners closed or blinked their eyes.
In the end, the rescuers decided to take Cody and Alannah back. Sadly, they had to separate the siblings because there was no foster home available that could take them both.
After a week of observation, the verdict from the foster families was clear: both cats are absolutely lovely and their behaviour is entirely normal. In their Facebook post, the rescuers jokingly asked who would like to adopt some "possessed cats"! We hope they find their forever home very soon.
