Given up after 11 years of family life, this confused dog breaks rescuers' hearts

On 6 October, the Association Toutous et Minous Nîmes, based in southern France, stepped in to rescue a senior dog.

For 11 years, this little dog lived happily alongside his owner.

He had only ever known one home his entire life. He had his daily routines, his house, his toys, and his family, who he loved spending every day with.

From stability to uncertainty

His future seemed secure. Sadly, fate had other plans. Overnight, his owner decided she could no longer keep him. She contacted Gloria, one of the rescue shelter's volunteers, to hand the dog over. As the rescue team explained in a Facebook post, the exact reason for the surrender remains unknown.

For this poor old boy, the situation is incredibly tough. He cannot understand why he must suddenly leave the only family he has ever known. At his age, losing everything familiar is completely disorientating and a massive source of stress.

Finding a foster home

We can only imagine how confused this little dog must be, suddenly facing the frightening reality of being homeless. Fortunately, Gloria was determined to find a solution for this elderly pup. She quickly tracked down a foster family ready to open their home and their hearts to him.

This brave dog has now started a new chapter with the family who welcomed him in. By sharing his heartbreaking story, the rescuers want to remind everyone that senior dogs also deserve a second chance in life. We hope he will soon find a cosy, permanent home with owners who will love and protect him for the rest of his days.
