Cupcake had been used for breeding when she was still just a pup herself. In fact, she was less than a year old when she was abandoned.
A heartbreaking past
And that wasn't all. Her previous owners had taken all of her puppies away from her. Cupcake was completely devastated by the sudden separation from her babies. Thankfully, she was later adopted by a new family.
When she first arrived at her new home, the trauma of being separated from her puppies was painfully clear. The poor little dog shook almost constantly. Her cries were absolutely heartbreaking, as you can see in the video below.
Finding peace
Her new owners tried everything to comfort her, but nothing seemed to work. Finally, her owner, Maren, had the idea of getting a puppy for Cupcake. That's when Lollipop joined the family, and the bond between the two dogs was instant.
Cupcake and Lollipop hit it off straight away and quickly became inseparable. Since the little puppy arrived, Cupcake has started to calm down. While her trauma hasn't vanished completely, she can now go much longer without shaking. She loves snuggling up with Lollipop for a snooze, as the puppy's presence finally brings her some comfort.
