Without her quick thinking, the lives of these two tiny creatures in danger could have ended in tragedy.
The driver saw someone throw a bag out of the window of a moving pick-up truck.
A heroic rescue
The witness knew something was seriously wrong. She stopped her car and opened the bag, only to find two black and white kittens inside, aged about five and a half months. But that was not all. The poor kittens were soaking wet, and they smelled strongly of bleach...
The driver immediately rushed them to the Humane Society of Missouri shelter. As soon as they arrived, the veterinary team took charge of the two young females, washing them thoroughly to remove all traces of the toxic chemical.
A safe haven
The kittens were underweight, terrified, and completely exhausted. Thankfully, they were finally in safe hands. The vets carried out several check-ups and found that, overall, the kittens were in good health. They have since been spayed.
The rescue team named them Dolly and Monroe. Dolly can be recognised by the little black patch on top of her head, while Monroe has a distinctive mask-like marking around one eye.
These two sweet girls are now ready to find their forever home. The shelter is looking for a loving family who can adopt them together. We wish this wonderful duo all the happiness in the world!
An inseparable duo
