Abandoned kitten's luck changes as he becomes a stadium mascot and baseball star

By Ludivine Mazzotti•

Back in August, a member of the Gwinnett Stripers baseball team spotted a tiny kitten in the middle of the road on his way to the stadium in the USA.

The player stopped his car, picked up the little stray, and brought him along to the stadium.

Since then, the little fellow's life has changed completely. He has now become the baseball team's official mascot.

Finding a safe haven

The team set him up in a room packed with toys, and the players decided to name him ChipPurr. While the kitten is adored by everyone at the stadium, he recently enjoyed a real moment of glory before a big game.

The match was part of "Purr in the Park", a charity evening where spectators could bring their own cats to the stadium and donate pet supplies to help a local rescue centre.

A star on the field

On Tuesday 15 September, ChipPurr made his grand entrance onto the field to throw the traditional ceremonial first pitch before the game. Of course, he "threw" the ball in his own unique way! Guided by Tricia, the team's marketing manager, and lured by a few tasty treats, the tiny kitten made his way onto the pitcher's mound while Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train" blasted out over the stadium speakers.

Even though the tiny kitten didn't actually throw the ball, his appearance triggered a huge round of applause and cheers from the crowd. To make things even better, Tricia is going to adopt the kitten officially, and he will soon be meeting the other cats in his new forever home!
