A curious exploration goes wrong
At just 15 weeks old, the black and white kitten had got herself into a situation she couldn't escape from on her own. Driven by curiosity and a desire to explore, Purdy had squeezed into an incredibly narrow gap between two buildings.
Once she was inside the gap, it was impossible for her to turn back. Wedged tightly between the walls, the young cat was completely trapped in this unexpected prison.
Calling in reinforcements
The rescue was far from easy for the firefighters, as you can see from the social media post below. It was incredibly difficult to even spot the tiny kitten in such a narrow crack. In fact, you have to look closely at the photos to see Purdy at all.
The crew from Chatteris called in reinforcements from a rope rescue team based in Huntingdon. Thanks to their specialist technical skills and a gentle approach, the rescuers successfully pulled Purdy out unharmed. The lucky kitten was quickly reunited with her relieved owners!
