The incident unfolded late on the evening of Saturday 15 August. A local resident raised the alarm after spotting a man repeatedly stabbing a Belgian Malinois on a balcony opposite.
When emergency services and veterinary staff arrived, they made a shocking discovery. The poor animal had nine stab wounds, eight of which were to his neck. After being taken into custody, the attacker admitted to everything, trying to justify his actions by claiming the dog had bitten him.
A miraculous recovery
Despite sustaining critical injuries to vital areas, the Belgian Malinois survived thanks to the rapid intervention of the vets. The public prosecutor in Metz, David Touvet, confirmed that the dog's life is no longer in danger.
The dog had only been given to the attacker shortly before the incident. His previous owner has already expressed her wish to take him back as soon as he has fully recovered.
