A devastating disappearance
In November 2025, Dylan Reedy, who lives in the US, made a devastating discovery: his dog, Timber, was nowhere to be found.
As reported by People, Dylan searched for him for weeks, and then months. He put up missing posters, scoured the local neighbourhood, and checked with local rescue centres. But as the seasons changed, his hopes of finding his dog safe and well began to fade.
The magic of social media
After more than eight months with no leads, a miracle happened online. While scrolling through Facebook, Dylan came across a post about a dog rescued by a shelter. The photo showed a stray dog whose shape and expression instantly reminded him of Timber.
After contacting the rescue centre and verifying several unique physical traits, there was no longer any doubt: it was indeed his dog.
The centre had named him Flash and placed him with a foster family after his stay in the stray holding facilities, so he could receive the extra care his injured paw needed.
An emotional reunion
Thanks to the support of the online community and the quick reaction of volunteers on the ground, Timber was kept safe before being returned to his owner. The reunion was deeply emotional, and the dog instantly recognised the owner who had raised him.
