Dog missing for a month makes surprise TV appearance during World Cup (video)

By Ludivine Mazzotti

On 24th May, La Gorda, a 6-year-old dog, disappeared from her owner Ale Garcia's home in Ciudad Victoria, Mexico.

For several weeks, her family searched for her relentlessly.

Three days after she went missing, Ale posted an appeal for help on social media, hoping someone would recognise her dog.

Sadly, despite the searches and numerous shares, there were no leads to help them find her. Ale was beginning to lose hope of ever seeing her best friend again. Then, almost a month later, fate finally intervened.

As thousands of fans celebrated Mexico's 3-0 victory against the Czech Republic during the World Cup, a live broadcast captured an unusual scene. In the middle of the crowd, a fan lifted a small dog above his head to celebrate the win. While watching the video, Ale's brother immediately recognised La Gorda. The whole family was in shock when they saw the footage!

An emotional reunion

Thanks to the video, Ale was quickly able to get her dog back. She was found nearly 10 miles from where she had disappeared. It turned out that while her whole family was worried and searching frantically, La Gorda was thoroughly enjoying the festive atmosphere with the Mexican fans!

Fortunately, the dog returned home safe and sound and was taken to the vet for a check-up. She was given a clean bill of health, much to her family's relief. It's wonderful that La Gorda is finally back home. The good news is she'll be able to enjoy the next football matches with her family!
