Talk about being in the right place at the right time. While driving through the state of Alabama in the USA for a search and rescue training course, a motorist named Bryan had to put his skills to the test much sooner than expected. A quick glance out of his window led him straight into a memorable rescue.
As he was driving past a heavily wooded area, Bryan spotted a moving shape. A tiny puppy was wandering all alone on the side of the road. Following his heart, he immediately pulled over to help.
One puppy... then a big surprise
As soon as he stepped out of his car, the situation took an unexpected turn. Two more puppies suddenly popped out of the bushes to join the first one. Intrigued by this impromptu welcoming committee, Bryan looked around and quickly spotted a cardboard box tucked under the trees.
Inside the makeshift shelter, the rest of the litter was huddled together, abandoned to their fate. In total, the Good Samaritan rescued seven puppies from the forest. Bryan bundled them all into his car to keep them safe, before immediately contacting local charity Rural Animal Rescue Effort (RARE).
“Bryan didn't hesitate,” wrote the RARE charity in a Facebook post. “He gathered up every puppy, got them to safety, and asked for help. These little girls are only here because Bryan refused to look away. A few months later, these once-abandoned puppies have grown into amazing dogs.”

Thanks to the driver's quick thinking and the dedicated care of the volunteers, this story has a happy ending for most of the litter, who have already been adopted. However, the journey isn't quite over for two of them.
Lily and Rose are still waiting to find their forever homes at the shelter. The rescue group cannot praise them enough, describing them as sweet, playful, affectionate, and perfect companions. Without Bryan's intervention that day, the story of these seven little animals would have had a much darker ending.
