This family from Tarn-et-Garonne in France never thought they would see their cat, Gribouille, again. Nine months after he vanished into thin air, his owner received the call that every pet parent prays for. As reported by local newspaper La Dépêche, Gribouille was identified an incredible distance away from home.
It all began nine months earlier. One day, Gribouille simply didn't come home. Had he run away? Was he stolen? Or had he met with an accident? Weeks of searching and appeals on social media brought no answers. As time passed with no sign of him, his owner slowly began to accept the heartbreaking reality that she might never see him again.
But fate, and this feline's adventurous spirit, had other plans.
Found 100 miles from home
The incredible twist in the tale happened over a two-hour drive away. A stray cat, clearly worn out from months in the wild but surprisingly friendly, started hanging around a local house. Touched by his sweet nature, a kind-hearted resident decided to take him in.
A miracle microchip scan
Refusing to leave him on the streets, she took him to a vet to check if he was microchipped. That was when the magic happened. The microchip scanner beeped, and the details popped up on the screen. The cat's name was Gribouille, he had been registered as missing for nine months, and his home was 100 miles away.
When the vet contacted his owner, her initial shock quickly turned to tears of relief. Their emotional reunion marked the end of a long and painful separation. Gribouille is now back in his favourite bed and getting back to his old routine—a little slimmer, but thankfully in good health.
