Recently, she took in Coconut, a Chihuahua cross, as a foster dog.
The shelter had warned Danielle that Coconut could be a little reactive.
A change in behaviour
But the moment she stepped into Danielle's house, she was a completely different dog! She was lovely with both people and Danielle's three resident dogs. The young woman cared for her during the foster period, and then Coconut was adopted by a family.
A few days passed, and then Danielle received a terrible call from the shelter. Coconut had run off, slipping out of her harness while her new family was out shopping. The little dog bolted into the woods, and the family left without her because, in their words, ”they had shopping to put in the fridge.”
A moving reunion
Danielle was absolutely heartbroken. She drove to the woods and called for Coconut for an hour. After an hour, Danielle was shocked to see the brave little dog running towards her, wagging her tail, and jumping straight into her car.
Danielle brought the dog home, and little Coconut was delighted to be reunited with her doggy friends. Danielle is now considering adopting her permanently. While she's still thinking it over, one thing is certain: from now on, Coconut will only know love and security.
