Hikers' forest run comes to an abrupt halt when they find a dog tied to a tree

By Ludivine Mazzotti

On Sunday 3rd May, a dog was found tied to a tree by walkers in the Eu forest in Saint-Pierre-en-Val, France.

The dog had no food or water, and there was no one else around. The young dog, about a year old, had been left completely on his own with no way to get free.

An adorable pooch

He is a very affectionate dog who loves people. The walkers who found him were part of the 'Trail de la Forêt d'Eu' association. They stayed by his side while they waited for rescuers from the SPA in Etalondes to arrive.

The dog was examined by a vet, but he had no microchip or collar to help identify his owners. The rescuers have posted an appeal on social media to find the dog's family. They have urged anyone with information about the family or the abandonment to get in touch.

A new life on hold

For now, the dog is not available for adoption until the legal waiting period has passed. After that, he will need further vet checks before he can be put up for adoption. This abandonment comes at a difficult time, as the SPA rescue centre is already full: all 40 kennel spaces are currently occupied by 40 dogs...

The rescuers hope that the dog's sweet and affectionate nature will help him find a loving family easily. We're keeping our fingers crossed for him too.
