Owner's beautiful tribute to his cat on his last day: a photo from 20 years on

By Ludivine Mazzotti

In the United States, a man decided to pay a beautiful tribute to his 20-year-old senior cat.

A photo posted on the social media platform Reddit has moved many animal lovers online.

A beautiful tribute

In the post's caption, the man wrote: "I put my childhood cat to sleep today and did my best to recreate a 20-year-old picture. I'll love you forever Gandalf."

In a photo from 20 years ago, a child is seen wearing an orange T-shirt and holding Gandalf the kitten.

The child, now an adult, recreated the photo by putting on an orange T-shirt and holding the senior cat, just as he had done 20 years before.

The photo is filled with emotion and serves as a wonderful tribute to Gandalf's long and happy life.

Sharing their support

Users quickly flooded the comments with messages of support, with some sharing personal stories about their own pets:

"Mine passed away in October. I still talk to him."

"I found out yesterday that my cat has cancer and I'm in tears. I don't know what the last seven years would have been like without her. I'm so lucky to have had her."

Others were fascinated by the cat's name: "Oh my God, I love that name. My feelings."

We also send our condolences to Gandalf's family and wish them strength during the difficult time of losing a beloved companion.
