The rescuer behind the TikTok account @notjorescues often drives through areas where dogs are frequently abandoned. On this occasion, she spotted the two tiny pups in distress. As soon as she slowed down her car, the first puppy decided to take a chance and approached her.
A hug of relief
He was quickly joined by his little friend, and the pair offered viewers the most moving scene of the year. Realising they were finally safe, they turned to each other and hugged, as if to confirm that their ordeal was finally over.
They ran towards hope
"The moment they saw someone slow down for them... they ran like they finally found hope," the rescuer wrote in the video's caption. This act of kindness completely changed the fate of these two little creatures, who likely wouldn't have survived much longer on their own.
Without their mother to feed and protect them, puppies are extremely vulnerable to dehydration, hypothermia, and disease. Their immature immune systems leave them with little chance of survival against the dangers of the street and a lack of food.
