Sickly two-week-old kitten's life is transformed by an unlikely mentor (video)

By Ludivine Mazzotti

Charlie the kitten was just two weeks old when he arrived at the Hearts Alive Village rescue centre in Las Vegas, USA.

The poor little thing had a minor infection, and life at the rescue centre was proving difficult for him. So, a volunteer named Nikki offered to take him in and foster him.

Round-the-clock care

Nikki was experienced with very young kittens like Charlie and knew he would need bottle-feeding around the clock. She rose to the challenge and took great care of him. However, Nikki also knew it was crucial for the kitten to have an adult cat 'mentor' to teach him how to be a cat.

So, Nikki introduced him to Wallace, her long-term resident cat. The first meeting wasn't the smoothest, so Nikki took her time to introduce them properly. Eventually, Wallace warmed up to Charlie, and in no time at all, he had taken the little one under his wing!

A true friendship

Nikki's heart melted when she saw Wallace grooming Charlie, a sure sign that he had taken the little kitten's well-being to heart. Before long, the two cats were completely inseparable.

After four and a half weeks in Nikki's care, Charlie received some wonderful news: he was ready for his next chapter. Charlie had found his forever home! And the icing on the cake is that he'll get to play all day with his new big sister, a two-and-a-half-year-old cat. So many wonderful adventures lie ahead for him!
