Sheri and Dave are devoted Labrador lovers. As reported by The Dodo, the couple from Memphis, Tennessee, received a text message in 2024 from the president of a rescue organisation called Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption. She was asking for their help with a stray dog who was in desperate need of assistance.
The couple didn't hesitate and set off to pick up the Labrador. They named her Honey, and she quickly stole their hearts.
Another dog in need
A few months later, the Hogue family happened to see a post from the rescue. They were looking for a home for another Labrador who was suffering from several health issues.
So, Sheri and her husband travelled to Indiana to collect the dog. "We renamed her Poppy and worked with our vet to nurse her back to health," she said.

A shocking discovery
Little by little, the family began to notice several similarities between the two dogs. Intrigued, the couple decided to do a DNA test and were stunned to discover that the two dogs were sisters.
"It brought us so much joy to nurse these two dogs back to health and give them a loving, safe home," Sheri said.
