When Rosy Kim, founder of the Allergic Rescuers KL organisation in Malaysia, saw photos of a cat named Khalon, she knew she had to do something special for him.
A heartbreaking sight
The cat was severely malnourished when she first met him in 2020. She immediately took him to a local vet.
After numerous medical tests, the results revealed that apart from some lice and a bout of flu, Khalon was surprisingly well. This was despite weighing only 4 pounds (1.8 kg), at an estimated age of three years old.
He was then placed in a foster home to recover. When he arrived, Khalon was extremely thin; he was little more than skin and bones.
A new lease of life
Fortunately, Khalon was showered with love in his foster home and made a spectacular recovery. He was very happy with his foster parents and was affectionate from the very first day of his rescue.
As the days went by, he became increasingly cuddly and playful.
Over the following months, Khalon continued to gain weight, eventually reaching 7.5 pounds (3.42 kg). He was then neutered, and in November, he was adopted by Mike and Madeleine in Malaysia.
The organisation shared his story on its Instagram account, and the community of animal lovers was deeply moved:
"Thank you to all the kind people who were involved in helping him."
"I still can't look at his skeletal body, it saddens me. It's just unbearable to think about what he went through."
Thankfully, Khalon can now enjoy a life filled with love and comfort!
