Back in 2018, while Katie was at home with her owner, Michelle, she made a rather shocking discovery.
After rolling around on the carpet for a while, just for fun, Katie went over to sniff Michelle's foot.
Electricity in the air
And in that moment, everything changed! A small spark of energy jumped from Katie's nose as she touched Michelle's foot.
Katie had just discovered the principle of static electricity. After this initial, slightly startling experience, her tail began to wag.
Although the jolt had taken her by surprise at first, she seemed to have enjoyed it, because she immediately did it again.
A shocking new hobby
From then on, Katie continued to experiment, this time with bigger static shocks, as you can see in the video below.
Michelle is almost certain that Katie does it on purpose. The family now has to be careful with their newer and more expensive electronic devices, keeping them well out of her reach.
Just to make sure Katie's love for generating electricity wasn't a problem for her, Michelle told her vet what she had been up to.
Rather than being concerned, the vet found it hilarious – and so do we!
