The founder of the Street Cat Society, Molly Grady, has shared her struggles to continue her work for animals.

Molly created the Street Cat Society organisation over seven years ago after witnessing the increase in stray cats over 35 years.

To help them, she decided to give her time... and her money.

A true act of selflessness

At first, Molly started by feeding the cats from time to time and taking them to the vet when she could.

Then she quickly dedicated each of her mornings to feeding nearly 100 cats before work. She ended up spending over $24,000 a year on food and medical costs.

Molly also built shelters for the cats herself using recycled materials.

But after four years of struggling to find financial means, she had no other choice but to resign herself. She shared her difficulties in an interview with a local newspaper.

Support arrives in force

The charity's volunteer marketing manager shared this interview with local groups. When she turned her computer back on later that evening, she saw over 150 comments on the article and 150 shares.

The animal-loving community rallied together and made donations in large numbers so that Molly could continue her work with the cats each day.

Molly is very grateful for all the donations and said that she had been remotivated to continue her mission of helping abandoned and mistreated animals. She will also continue to raise awareness amongst legislators and the public about different solutions to tackle the problem.
