Hi everyone!
When I got home this evening, I noticed that one of my cats has an "injury" (or at least a small bald patch next to a tiny spot of blood) by his muzzle.
It's probably nothing serious, but since they've had some big changes recently (moving from a small terraced house to a large house in the country), I'm wondering if it's a stress reaction rather than an injury.
I have two cats, Malvi and Zelda.
Malvi is the one with the "injury". On the face of it, he's handled the move well; he explored the house quickly and hasn't lost his appetite, unlike Zelda.
I was working from home today and there was no fighting or rough play (generally they never fight anyway — they're the same age, were raised together and have always got on brilliantly over the last 2 years. They're both neutered.).
I only popped out for about 40 minutes to run an errand, and when I got back, I noticed the bald patch.
The patch itself isn't bloody. There's just a tiny speck of blood about 1cm away from the bald area. He's eating fine and I don't think it looks swollen, but my partner thinks it is.
In your opinion, should I take him to the vet? Is it just a minor scratch or could it be a stress reaction 15 days after moving house?
Thanks for your replies and have a lovely evening (or day) ━━
PS: Sorry for the photo quality, Malvi isn't the easiest to handle.
PS2: Just to clarify, we aren't letting them outside for the time being. We're waiting until they're fully settled into the house. They didn't have outdoor access at the old place either.
PS3: We've cleaned up the spot of blood, so it's not visible in the photos.
