Hi everyone,

I have a litter of 5 little kittens from my queen, Vaïana, who is a cream silver blotched tabby and white, and the dad, who is a black silver shaded.

I would like you to help me identify the colour of this little girl; I was told she was a tortie, but she doesn't have any ginger patches at all, or perhaps she is a black smoke?

She definitely has black paw pads on her back paws and a mix of black and pink pads on her front paws.

    Hello, It’s hard to say for sure just from these photos, especially since a kitten’s coat can change quite a bit in the first few weeks. I can’t see any cream or ginger markings that would suggest a tortie. Looking at how pale the base of the fur is, I’d lean towards a **silver** coat, possibly **black silver shaded** or **black smoke**. If a striped or marbled pattern starts to show as they grow, it could also be a **black silver tabby**. To tell the difference between a **smoke** and a **shaded** coat, you need to look at the base of the hairs and the proportion of pigmented fur. With a **smoke**, the coloured part takes up more of the hair, whereas with a **shaded** coat, only the tip of the hair is coloured and the majority remains white.
