Hi everyone,

Over the last five days, I've noticed a small pinkish graze with a tiny black scab on the side of his muzzle. My dog's behaviour hasn't changed and he isn't scratching at it; he's been spending a lot of time in the garden lately. What do you think it could be?Sore near the muzzle

    Hi,

Looking at the photo, it looks like a minor surface abrasion or scratch with a scab that’s currently healing. If it’s been 5 days and your dog isn’t scratching at it, isn't rubbing their snout, and the lesion doesn't seem to be growing or weeping, then it isn't necessarily a cause for concern.

If the scab doesn't improve within 1 to 2 weeks, or if the appearance worsens, it would be best to see a vet to rule out an infection, a sting, a fungal infection, or another skin condition.

    Have a good day,

    Maëlla
