How to get dog hair off the sofa and clothes?

Hi everyone! My Golden, Max, is shedding everywhere — on the sofa, my clothes, in the car... I've tried loads of techniques, but nothing is really effective in the long run. Standard lint rollers are okay, but they end up being quite expensive after a while. Do you have any tips you use day-to-day? I'm curious to know what actually works for you!

Those flat silicone gadgets you find in budget shops like B&M pick up a massive amount of fur. I got a carpet cleaner for Christmas; it’s a magic bit of kit for fabrics.

For clothes, we use an electrostatic brush. It has a battery in the handle that creates static electricity to attract the hair. It’s very effective. We’ve never been able to find the same one again: it was unbranded, bought at a market from a stallholder who doesn’t come round anymore.

There’s very little hair on the sofa or armchairs, as they aren’t allowed on them. What little does end up there doesn't stand a chance against our cordless stick vac from a well-known big brand.

Hardly any hair on the car seats either: they travel in the boot of our estate car, usually with the back seats folded down and protected by a thick sheet, as well as the dogs' beds.

I’d definitely recommend checking out this survey site, where you can easily swap your points for some extra cash.

Hi there, Personally, I use a brush I picked up at a pet shop that’s brilliant at getting hair off any surface. Unfortunately, I can’t find the brand name, but they’re quite easy to find in the shops or online. Otherwise, a good hoovering always does the trick, but I can see how it would be a bit of a hassle to hoover the car after every journey. It’s worth putting some old sheets over those types of surfaces; it’s not completely hair-proof, but it definitely reduces the amount of fur left behind. Best wishes, Quitterie

Another handy hack is using a rubber glove. For the car, where some areas really trap the hair, it’s definitely a job for duct tape 😅

Use a slightly damp sponge or a small soft brush, rubbing in small circular motions and clearing away the clumps of fur as you go. The only tricky bit is finding a suitable surface, as you need to lay the garment on a hard surface (an ironing board, for example).

I’ve got this one (it’s even got a photo of a Golden on it 🤣 wasn’t even on purpose), it’s a sort of grooming mitt.

Hi, I use the FurDaddy brush for my cat and it’s honestly brilliant; it picks up all the hair. I bought mine at the supermarket, but you should be able to find it online.
