Hello

For a kitten to be shaded, are they definitely born with a white head?

Hi, For a coat to be considered shaded, several criteria are taken into account. The most important is the proportion of the hair that is coloured: about a third of the hair length should be pigmented, while the base remains light (white for silvers, cream for goldens). The cat as a whole shows a veil of colour, which is more prominent on the back, head, and tail. To tell a shaded and a smoke apart, you really need to part the fur and look at the base: on a shaded cat, only the tips are coloured, whereas on a smoke, the colour extends more than halfway up the hair. Kind regards, Victoire
