Hi everyone,

Calling any vet experts out there. What do you call the phenomenon in this photo?

🔹It’s a kind of skin laxity that causes wrinkling and folds everywhere (lower back, forehead, neck, belly...). A friend’s dog has this, but I have no idea what it could be.

The dog isn't bothered by it, but it certainly doesn't look great.

It just feels like sagging skin. I can't feel any fat when I touch it.

Best wishes.

Hello, Without a clinical examination, it is difficult to be definitive. Very loose skin with many folds can simply be down to the morphology of certain breeds, but it could also suggest a connective tissue disorder such as cutaneous asthenia (Ehlers-Danlos syndrome), or more rarely, certain hormonal imbalances or significant weight loss. If the folds have appeared recently or seem to be becoming more pronounced, I would advise a check-up with your vet to determine the cause. Best wishes, Romane
