Keeping your pets safe

Our little Pupuce is 22 years old. The neighbour, who had horses and a dog breeding business, warned me that if our little cat went onto her paddock, she would disappear. I've got her used to being in the house and just spending a bit of time in our garden. I tell her ''go for your little wander and come back quickly''. And she's learned to listen. Even that neighbour said to me a few days ago, ''you've trained your cats well!''.

Hello, I’m a vet student, and 22 is such a wonderful age for your little Pupuce!
It sounds like she’s found a very reassuring environment and well-established routines with you.
Cats can certainly learn recall and a routine, even if their return can unfortunately never be guaranteed every time they go out.
Your neighbour's comments were definitely worrying; no one should ever threaten to make an animal disappear.
Enjoy every moment with your golden oldie and, given her great age, try to stick to supervised time in the garden from now on.

    All the best,

    Romane
