Limping after hitting a wall

Hi, about 10-11 days ago my 2-month-old puppy had the zoomies and ran full pelt into the corner of a wall, hitting his right shoulder and leg. He started limping after that, so I went straight to the vet who did some X-rays. Since he's just a baby, they didn't want to take any chances and put him on anti-inflammatories. They advised me to go to a specialist veterinary clinic to speak with a surgeon. For 5 or 6 days he stopped limping altogether. A few days ago I saw the surgeon; I told them the limping had improved, and they said it was nothing serious and that my puppy could go back to his normal routine. However, the limping started again the day before yesterday and yesterday, so I called the specialist back. They told me I should just leave it, but I'm really worried and don't know what to do. Should I get back in touch with them?

I should also mention that the limping only happens if he's moving around a lot and it only lasts for a few seconds. If I pick him up or put him down and he doesn't walk, it goes away completely—it's not a persistent limp.

Has anyone else dealt with this before? Did things get better?

Thanks in advance 🐾

Hi there, On the plus side, the X-rays and the specialist's opinion clearly didn't show anything serious. The fact that the limp mainly appears after he's been very active and then clears up quickly could suggest some pain or inflammation that hasn't fully settled yet. However, as he’s a puppy of only 2 months and the limping is recurring despite rest and anti-inflammatories, I'd personally ask for a follow-up if it continues over the next few days. In the meantime, try to limit any running about, jumping, using stairs, or rough play for a few days, even if he's itching to let off steam. Have a good evening, Maëlla
