Why is there nothing like Sniffspot in the UK?

Been thinking about this for a while and wanted to see if anyone else feels the same. I've got a cockapoo called Ralph and honestly finding decent off-lead space for him is a constant headache. I even end up taking him to work some days just so he's not stuck at home — which my colleagues don't seem to mind but it's not exactly a long term solution!

I came across an American service called Sniffspot where people rent out their private garden space by the hour to dog owners — so your dog gets a secure, fenced space all to themselves without the chaos of a public park. Sounds brilliant doesn't it? But as far as I can tell nothing like it exists over here.

Why do you think that is? There must be loads of people with big underused gardens who'd be happy to make a bit of money, and loads of us who'd pay for it. Am I missing something or is this just a genuine gap?

Would love to know if anyone else has struggled with this — especially those of you without a garden or living in a busy area.

    Hi there,

This is actually starting to take off over here!

There are apps (similar to things like Sniffspot or private dog field hire sites) that use this exact concept of renting a garden by the hour for your dog.

Mind you, it still seems very new and there aren’t loads of spaces available depending on the area, so I reckon the market is still in its early stages.

Another alternative that’s becoming quite popular is doggy daycare!

They usually have rules based on your dog’s temperament and size, though, to make sure all the dogs can get along safely.

    Have a lovely day,

    Maëlla
