Hi James,
It's wonderful you are thinking of ways to ensure your cat's wellbeing, and you're absolutely right that enrichment, safe spaces and routine can all go a long way in keeping our feline friends feeling their best!
In my experience, adding enrichment activities throughout the day can make a huge difference. Interactive toys like feather wands, puzzle feeders or treat trails around the house can all help keep your cat mentally stimulated. Rotating toys weekly also helps ensure they don't lose interest. If you have the space, adding a cat tree or perch near a window can offer a cosy lookout spot - they often feel most comfortable higher up.
You also mention safe spaces, which can be a very valuable resource for cats. Try to find somewhere away from foot traffic and noiser areas of the house, where your cat can take themselves off to when they want to completely switch off. In terms of routine, consistency is also important. Feeding your cat at the same time, scheduling play sessions before meals and so on... Predictable rhythms often help increase a sense of safety, and this in turn is great for your cat's overall wellbeing.
I hope this is helpful. Please let us know how you get on!
