Choosing a Wheelchair for a Dachshund

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone here has dealt with something similar. Our dachshund has started showing signs of rear leg weakness - it’s getting harder for her to walk, and the vet suggested we start looking into a dog wheelchair.

My husband and I have been doing some research, and we came across a brand called Furria. Here's the link, in case it rings a bell for anyone: https://furria.store/products/small-dog-wheelchair
Their wheelchair costs 109 pounds, which is a bit of a stretch for us right now, so we’d really appreciate any feedback.Has anyone here ever bought from them? Are they trustworthy?

Thanks so much in advance!

Sorry to hear about your dachshund’s leg issues. I haven’t bought from Furria, so I’d suggest checking reviews or asking your vet for trusted options. You might also find helpful care tips from tools like Dog daycare Software to keep her routine organized while you explore mobility support.

    Hi,

I don't have experience personally with a dog wheelchair, but I do have a very old Dachshund who is starting to struggle with mobility. For the time being we have been using a doggy pushchair, so he can join us wherever we go and get out for short walks when he feels up to it. He seems to love being in there, looking around and taking everything in as we go! In time though, he will need more support and we have also been considering a wheelchair as an option.

From what I've found out, it seems that a low, long body fit is important to specify to any provider, so the dog's back stays straight and supported. Light weight aluminium is meant to be best, and the chair should be made to measure to make sure it's comfortable and won't rub. From what I can see it looks as if Furria does make to measure, engineering the wheels specifically with small dogs in mind, as opposed to scaling down a large dog wheel chair - hopefully this combined with the fact they're made to measure, means it would be as comfortable as possible for your girl :)
