Hi there, I’ve noticed what look like white spots on my cat's ears and I was wondering if anyone knows what they are? Thanks.

Evening, those are ticks (larvae). You’ll need to use a spot-on treatment or a parasite tablet. They’ll either drop off within a few hours or end up drying out in 2 to 3 days.

Hydrogen peroxide is enough on its own. I used standard 10 volume hydrogen peroxide and it cleared those white spot parasites right up after two applications, looking exactly like the ones in the photo.

Thanks Estrella. Regarding the hydrogen peroxide, what strength should I use to clear up all those little white spots? Do I also need to get some colloidal silver, or is the hydrogen peroxide enough on its own? Thanks for your help.

It’s a parasite cats pick up outdoors in hedges or long grass. It looks a bit like tick eggs. They're easy to get rid of, so no need for a vet. You just need to hold some cotton wool with a bit of hydrogen peroxide on the white spot for 3 seconds for 3 days in a row and the white spot will go away. Both my cats have had this and it worked a treat. The hydrogen peroxide kills the parasite and makes it fall off. You can wipe the cotton wool over the whole ear to clean the area if needed.

I meant to say: colloidal silver (not helical). Anyway, it’s NOT ringworm, mange, or feline acne. And it’s easy enough to treat. It’s common in cats that go out in hedges or long grass. It’s a parasite that causes these white bumps.

My cat had that on her ears. I disinfected them with hydrogen peroxide and applied colloidal silver for 4-5 days, and it cleared up on its own. Colloidal silver isn't expensive and it sorts out plenty of skin issues. If it doesn't go away, only then should you head to the vet 🙂

    Thanks in advance

I agree, a trip to the vet would be best as it could spread.

    Hi there,

It might be a parasite infestation; in my opinion, you should check with your vet to be sure and see if an appointment is necessary.
