Hi there,
You could always go back to the vet or send them some photos, but I think it’s actually quite common; I spoke to two friends who’d had their female cats spayed and they’d experienced the exact same thing. With my girl, it eventually cleared up on its own. After about a fortnight, the lump had completely gone. It’s caused by inflammation and is called a seroma (serosanguinous fluid).
As long as she seems her usual self, isn’t vomiting, and is going to the toilet normally, there’s probably no need to worry. Best of luck!
Thank you so much, I actually took her to the vet this morning and they suggested waiting about ten days to keep an eye on the lump.
Thanks for such a reassuring message! 😉
In that case, head back to the vet.
Thanks for your reply! I already went back to the vet as soon as I saw it swelling up, 48 hours after the surgery, but he told me not to worry, that it was just some oedema and inflammation... so I tried to reassure myself, but right now I don't find it very reassuring at all...
Hi, I'm facing the same issue today with my little girl who was spayed last Wednesday.
Did you get any answers? What did it turn out to be?
My vet tells me not to worry and that the inflammation (the lump) would go down on its own, but it hasn't got any smaller since Wednesday and I'm worried it might be a hernia (even though the vet hasn't clearly detected any organs or an opening).
Thanks in advance
Thanks for your reply! I’ve already been back to the vet as soon as I noticed the swelling, 48 hours after the operation, but he told me not to worry and said it was just some oedema and inflammation... so I tried to stay calm, but I really don’t like the look of it now, it’s not very reassuring at all...
