Hi everyone, I have a question for those of you who own one: do Weimaraners actually smell? I really like the breed, but I've been told they can have quite a strong doggy odour.

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

Terry

    Hi Terry,

Let's just say that no particular breed has a specific smell (whether pleasant or not). A dog’s bad odour is usually down to skin issues (conditions or disorders affecting the skin and coat) or external factors, such as spending time in certain places (especially in water), rolling in the dirt, or particularly poor hygiene (the underlying cause of which should always be looked into).

So... rest assured that even if you don't end up with a little wagging bottle of Chanel, there certainly won't be any fundamental problems in that department.

    Best regards,
