Hello.

Here is my situation. I had my cat vaccinated last Friday, 28/08, against feline panleukopenia, calicivirus and herpesvirus. However, I’ve just realised that the vet injected a vaccine that was three months out of date (the expiry date was May 2026). The vaccine used was Feligen by Virbac.

Could you give me some information regarding the toxicity of the product now that it is expired (I’m particularly concerned about her liver and kidneys) and also about its effectiveness?

Do I need to have it done again and, if so, in what timeframe? Especially as my cat is 11 years old and has been vaccinated every year since she was a kitten.

    Hello, It’s possible that the vaccine’s effectiveness might be reduced because it has passed its expiry date. Normally, there shouldn't be any toxicity issues related to the vaccine being out of date. However, I would advise you to speak with your vet to see if your pet needs to be revaccinated.
