WALKING TROUBLES WITH RIO

Hello

Since August 2025, we’ve adopted Rio, a rescue dog who came over from Guadeloupe. He’s a lovely boy and absolutely devoted to me. The problem—and I feel ashamed even writing this—is that he’s sometimes such a handful on walks that I’ve actually started to regret adopting him. As soon as he sees another dog, he lunges in every direction and barks so much that other owners cross the road to get away from us. I’ve even seen a dog trainer who tells me everything is fine, but that’s really not how it feels to me. I’m going to end up not taking him out at all; I’m absolutely worn out when I get back from these walks. Honestly, I don’t want to have to resort to rehoming him, so I’m hoping someone can help me.

Thank you in advance for your advice.
