Which side are you on: dog tied up in the garden or not?

Hi everyone, I think it’s important to distinguish between a dog being able to enjoy a garden and being left to live outside 24/7, especially if they are tethered. Dogs are a social species: interaction with their humans, walks, mental stimulation, and downtime are all vital for their well-being. A garden can be a real bonus, but it’s no replacement for walks or being part of the family indoors. Keeping a dog permanently tethered is never a good solution; it restricts their movement and can lead to frustration, stress, or behavioural issues. Just a quick reminder: a dog living in a flat without a garden can be far more stimulated than a dog that only ever goes out into its own garden. A garden isn't the be-all and end-all!
