Hi there,
My Staffie is 5 months and 2 weeks old today. When he was 5 months, he weighed about 22 lbs and he's quite slim. But he’s doing brilliantly; they’re all different sizes and weights and their genetics often just kick in with a bit of a growth spurt when they’re 5, 6 or 7 months old. You’ll see, I don't think you've got anything to worry about! He’s gorgeous, by the way!

Hi Jizz,
I’ve got a little 6-month-old male who is also on the smaller side for the breed, but he’s doing great anyway. At 6 and a half months, he weighs 11kg (around 24 lbs or 1 stone 10 lbs); it’s not much, but he’s well-proportioned and a real looker.
There’s a brilliant site for this called Belpatt.fr.
You enter your dog’s weight every time you weigh him, and it gives you a live weight chart that you can compare with the average for other dogs of the same breed on the site, based on a target adult weight.
For instance, here is my boy’s chart, and the blue line is the average curve for an adult Staffie of 15kg (about 33 lbs or 2 stone 5 lbs, so not a big dog at all). My dog’s curve drops off quite clearly at one point; that was when I changed his dry food and he didn't settle on it at all, so he stopped gaining weight for about 15 to 20 days.

I’ve noticed that with Staffies, there are loads of males that are way over the breed standard and much too heavy. I’ve come across tonnes of Staffies weighing between 20 and 23kg (about 3 stone 2 lbs to 3 stone 8 lbs), even though the standard says they should be between 13 and 17kg (roughly 2 stone to 2 stone 9 lbs).
If Belpatt is anything to go by, mine will probably end up between 14 and 15kg (around 31 to 33 lbs), but that’s no bad thing since I live in the city.
