Male dog being constantly humped by others

Hi everyone,

I really need your advice. My puppy, who is 6 months old now, is constantly being humped by other dogs. He's a little male, but it happens every time. I don't think it's a dominance thing because it's honestly crazy; dogs seem to smell him from a distance and just bolt towards him. We can't go to the park anymore because it's a total nightmare. Four or five dogs at a time try to mount him and they're absolutely obsessed – even their owners can't get through to them.

During the week, a little female dog spends the day with him, so I was wondering if she might be transferring her "girl hormones" onto him. What do you lot think??

Thanks for your help, I'm really at my wits' end.

He must have a scent that's attractive to other dogs, it’s nothing to worry about. Have you had him neutered?

That's good to hear :) It's a relief at least.

He was at the vet two weeks ago and everything is fine. Plus, he’s got bags of energy! But thanks anyway, that’s still interesting to know.

    Evening,

I’m saying this as a former rat owner: it might be a good idea to get a check-up with the vet to make sure everything’s okay. It’s not something I’ve seen in dogs, but then again, I haven't really been in a situation where it might have happened. With rats, though, I’ve noticed constant mounting when there are health issues or with some nearing the end of their lives. I thought I’d mention it... you never know! 😉
