Hiya
I’ve got a nine-and-a-half-month-old Spitz. I was told he’d be a miniature, but that was a massive lie! He’s ended up somewhere between small and medium – he weighs about 13 lbs and is a bit over 12 inches tall.
I’d say it all depends on your dog’s parents and her bloodline as well.
What does the breeder have to say about it?
Evening, I had the exact same thing happen with mine. They’re actually Japanese Spitz and not Pomeranians.
If he's only 6 months old, he should still put on a bit more weight and fill out a little; he'll probably end up being around 19 or 20 lbs (about 1 stone 6).
In terms of size, as he’s a small dog, he shouldn’t get much taller—maybe just another inch or two, but nothing major.
To measure him without a proper measuring stick, I just do the same as you’d do with kids: make a little mark on the wall level with his withers and then measure up. It’s not 100% accurate, but it gives you a rough idea.
Hi,
I don't think your Spitz is a 'toy', as Pomeranians usually weigh between roughly 2 and 9 lbs, so I reckon your dog is a 'medium' Spitz.
I bought a Pomeranian puppy at 2 months old and she weighs barely 2 lbs.
There's no way he's a toy then; a toy shouldn't be more than 8 inches tall. To me, he looks a lot like a Medium Spitz. Mind you, 15 lbs seems like quite a lot... My Spitz is 9 inches tall and weighs about 4.5 lbs.
