Phew
Good evening, I’m writing because I’m extremely worried about my little 4-month-old Chihuahua... I’m in the same boat as @Lila994.
So, my dog Bambi had his second jab today. The vet injected him in the skin at the back of his thigh—right or left side, I can’t quite remember. I don't even dare touch him now because he cries as soon as he tries to move or walk, or even if I try to stroke him. I’d like to know if this is normal? His breeder did the first vaccination, and I’ve just had his second one done. I don’t know if it’s normal for him to be so poorly and sad, or in so much pain that he can't move or walk.... He’s staying warm with me in bed but he can't move. I'm so worried and it’s making me feel awful seeing him like this. Does anyone have any advice or can you tell me if it’s normal for him to be in so much pain that he's not moving? Should I go back to the vet?
Thanks,
Kind regards, Miss Kelly
@Jador yeah, I see what you mean. He’s been asleep until now and honestly, he’s doing much better!
@docline haha, oh that’s going to be tricky then because we’re already constantly fussing over him as it is, but since he was in so much pain, it was even more than usual. If he’s enjoyed the attention, I imagine he’ll be wanting even more of it! ^^
A jab doesn’t really hurt. At most, there’s a bit of soreness where they had the needle and sometimes a small lump forms, but nothing more than that. Dogs don’t usually react much more than that. I did notice some slight diarrhoea the following day, but whether it was actually down to the jab...
@Jador to be honest I’m not exactly sure where, I just know his left side is really hurting and he’s keeping his left leg bent all the time because of the pain... Sorry if I’m not explaining myself as well as I’d like!
He’s sleeping now so I’ll wait until tomorrow, and if he’s still in just as much pain I’ll follow your advice and contact another vet!
But is it actually normal for him to be in pain in the first place? :(
