Hi there, my Maltese weighs about 20 lbs and is 14 inches tall. Is this normal? Thanks in advance.

Hello, back in March 2010, my wife bought a Maltese puppy for about £600 from a shop that was hosting a dog show. They told us he was a pedigree but not Kennel Club registered. He now weighs 20 lbs (about 1 stone 6) and stands 14 inches tall. Is this normal? Thanks in advance!

I’ve just checked the breed standard for Bichons, and they aren’t supposed to be more than 30cm at the withers.

    Have you measured him yet?

He’s clearly been eating his greens!!! lol

I don’t know much about Bichons, but I’ve seen the photo on your profile and it’s true he’s bigger than other Bichons. Is he a crossbreed?
