Small lump on my dog’s skin?

Hi everyone, my dog has a sort of hard fatty lump on the skin on her neck. It’s tiny but I’m still quite worried about it. She’s had them before but the vet told me they would clear up on their own. That hasn’t happened this time though.

I’m not looking to be told that I should go and see my vet, I already know that... I’d just like to know if your dog has ever had the same thing and if so, how did you get rid of it?

Looking forward to your replies.

Yeah, I went to see the vet about my dog Benji. She told me it’s nothing serious, just some pus inside. I’ve been taking them out myself—I disinfect the area and remove them one by one.

Hi there, I know this is an old thread, but I’m hoping someone might have some advice. I’ve got two Bichons, aged 9 and 10. My old girl is still doing well, but she’s developed what looks like a fleshy growth with a white spot on her back near her hindquarters, and another one above one of her claws. I noticed she’s started limping, so I’ve booked her in with the vet for tomorrow as I couldn’t get her seen this evening. About a year ago, I had a lump removed that had really grown on her back end. She was already in for a dental scale and polish, and when I pointed out that the lump had got bigger, the vet removed it then to save her from having to have a second general anaesthetic. Anyway, back then it was definitely a lump under the skin, but this time it’s more like a bit of flesh attached to the skin. I couldn’t get a clearer photo. I groomed her about a week and a half ago (usual shampoo and a trim with the clippers). With spring on the way, I’m wondering if it could be caused by some kind of bugs or creepy crawlies... Other than that, she’s fine in herself. Last time, they told me it was a benign tumour, but just the word "tumour" gives me the chills. Has your pet ever had anything like this?

Since this thread started, every dog seems to have something different going on. So, the advice the vet gives to one person won't be the same for the next.

If you're 'really' worried, go and see your vet!

You can't get a diagnosis from a photo, and even less so without one...

There are dozens of different types of lumps and cysts, and no two are caused by the same thing! But it’s definitely in your dog's best interest to get it checked out by a vet straight away. It’s much better to see someone early than to deal with a malignant skin tumour that could progress very quickly. In 90% of cases, it’ll be benign, but it might still need a bit of treatment or even removal via laser surgery!

Hi, I've just found the same thing on my dog. He’s a Frenchie-Bichon cross and is a total sweetheart... I’m not sure how long it’s been there, though, as my daughter only just pointed it out to me. Could you help me, please? I can't get him to the vet just now, so I'm looking for some advice. Thanks.

My dog has the same thing and I'm starting to get worried too.

Have you heard back from a vet yet?
