Lump on the scar after spaying

Evening everyone,

My Labrador was spayed on the 17th of July. She had two drainages due to some swelling (oedema) on the 27th and 29th of July, and then her stitches were removed on the 1st of August 2015.

She's been on Extranase for the swelling. Since the 1st of August, she still has a lump around the scar area that isn't going down at all, despite the treatment.

Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Right then, get in touch with your vet, she might be having a reaction to the surgery.

    No, it isn't painful.

I’m not sure if it’s the same thing, but when I had Luna spayed, a week later there was a lump near her scar. I went straight to the vet as I was worried it might be a reaction or some kind of problem. She told me Luna must have been scratching her side and it caused some inflammation; the vet had to drain the fluid to prevent an infection.

So, my only advice is to speak to your vet ;)

Wishing your little girl a speedy recovery :)

I’d agree with Angeline—get in touch with your vet and keep a close eye on the swelling. Does it seem painful?

Hi there, I know when I had my girls spayed they had a bit of swelling around the scar, which is perfectly normal, but after 6 days I'm not sure if it's quite right. If I were you, I'd get in touch with your vet to ask...
