Is it normal for a dog in season to lick up her spotting?

Hi everyone,

My dog Gaia is a Shiba Inu and she's just over three years old.

Whenever she's in season, she constantly licks herself to stop any blood from dripping on the floor. Even if some does land on the ground, she’s straight there to lick it up.

Is it okay for her to be licking up the blood like this?

Do you think I should just let her carry on with it?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Jordan

Thanks so much for your replies.

So, if I’ve understood correctly, there’s no danger to her?

    It’s perfectly normal behaviour.

If one female doesn’t do it, another one in the house can take over the job, lol
