One of my dogs swallowed a condom

Hi, on Wednesday morning I realised one of my Jacks had swallowed a condom. I've been keeping an eye on them and their toilet habits since then; they aren't showing any symptoms, but I haven't been able to find the condom in their poo yet.

Generally speaking, how long does it take for a foreign object to pass through?

Hi everyone, my 3-month-old Aussie puppy has just swallowed a used condom. I don't know what to do and I'm really scared. Do you have any advice?

    Evening,

The simplest thing to do—having already dealt with one of my dogs swallowing a foreign object—is to give them a meal so that the food forms a mass around the object and it passes in their poo. Of course, we're only talking about a soft, non-toxic object that isn't likely to cause internal damage.

To put your mind at rest, contact the out-of-hours vet. You can usually get the number by calling your regular vet surgery; the answerphone will give you the emergency contact details.

There's very little risk, but given the size of your pup, it might get a bit stuck on the way out. Keep an eye on their poo, and if it hasn't come out quickly, you'll need to go and see someone.

Our dogs aren't half glamorous, are they...

She went through a phase of stealing my husband's socks 😇 oh, I do love my little girl! She’s doing a great job of training my bloke to tidy up more 🥳

Lol, exactly! You've got to sift through the poo! We've pretty much all been there, haven't we? No shame in it! It's just not exactly pleasant, shall we say 😁 My partner actually had to bring some poo home to piece back together a mini motherboard – our girl had eaten part of a headset and the mic was missing! Let’s just say it's finally motivated him to tidy up after himself! (Ahhh, I love my dog! 🤗 She managed in an hour what I’ve been trying to do for four years!) 😂 You know what you've got to do next – get the dog to eat his PC tower! 😁

Well, we’ve all been there, haven’t we? No shame in it! It’s just not the most pleasant task, let’s put it that way 😁

My partner actually had to bring some poo home once to try and piece back together a mini motherboard – our little girl had eaten part of a headset and the mic was missing!

Safe to say it's finally motivated him to tidy up after himself!

Hang in there, otherwise as mentioned above, a good recipe might help you out.

Hi there, I reckon it’ll just come out in his poo. Keep a close eye on his general condition and keep checking his stools. I totally get why you’re worried. When ours was a puppy, she managed to grab a condom in her mouth in the woods (some people are so inconsiderate!). I managed to pull it out straight away, but that was just lucky – you can’t catch everything! Best of luck to you! 😉

A few small chunks of apple (without the pips) as a snack 👌 would also be great.
