My dog is skipping on her back legs

Hi everyone!

I’ve noticed for a while now that my little dog has been skipping on her back legs during our walks.

It reminds me a bit of how we used to skip when we were little girls.

At our last visit to the vet (back in September), she checked her paw pads and between her toes, but there was nothing there.

We’ve had another look ourselves and still nothing. I just don’t understand why she’s doing it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Me neither, actually—that’s exactly why I was asking. I sometimes notice that when Jyrkhos has been lying down for a long time, he’s a bit unsteady on his feet when he gets up, but he doesn't shake his legs.

Can they get "pins and needles" in their little paws?

I’m not really sure... But I don't think so, because she's still doing it even after an hour's walk.

The neighbour's little Jack Russell does it too, but obviously a lot less.

Mine's been doing the same thing for a while now, but his pads look normal. I'm seeing the vet soon, so I'll ask them about it.

I’ve often wondered about that myself and haven't found an answer, so if anyone has an explanation, I’d love to hear it too!

Yeah, same here, it's the left one time and then the right the next.

I find it a bit odd and I do wonder why she does it ^^

Mine does that too... sometimes it's the left, sometimes it's the right. The vet checked her pads and joints as well, and she's perfectly fine ^^
